iTunes 10: Turn on Ping
Posted by Erixun in Apple / Mac on September 2, 2010

I guess Apple have learned from giant peers Google and Microsoft about the ire forced social networking can create. Just as blogs exploded with hate at Googles decision to turn on Buzz by defualt in its new updates, Microsoft faced similar fire at its Bing SN integration.
Apple launched its new iTunes 10 today with some general design updates, music library album grouping (quite nice actually) and other sundry items, it has its new social network integration, called “Ping” turned off by default. Click on Ping for the first time and you are faced with a turn on and set up page. While I am not huge fan of SN’s I won’t go through that rigmarole.
In any case, Thanks Apple for discernment.
