iPhone Unibody… I call trollin
Posted by Erixun in Mac / Apple on July 25, 2010
This post is old from April, and I apologies for bringing it up now. The pics from the original post are grainy and low-rez (the cutouts on the side make it look like cardboard or plaster), but the idea is tremendous and awesome.
An iPhone with an aluminum unibody.

Switzerland launched its iPhone 4 sale with a special caviat: Women get served first (or men with women). Although sensitive type will get offended at this blatant discrimination of sex, I think its a brilliant bit of advertising. It makes a splash, it creates hype, pervs will show up to ogle the chicks, bitches will feel privileged and Apple takes more of our money.

iPhone 4 recall
Posted by Erixun in Mac / Apple on July 13, 2010
(image from CNET)
Apple and its most successful launched product, the iPhone 4, has been getting massive amounts of free advertising over the last few weeks. The line in the sand has been reinforced with concrete as fanboys and anti’s square off on the hot topic of what Apple should do and if a recall is in the cards.
What we know for sure is:
- Some users have a problem with reception
- Some users report no problems whatsoever
- Apple has not issued an official fix
- Apple has recommended holding the iPhone in a specific way or using a ‘bumper’ case
- Apple has said it will release a firmware fix for bar display
Apple users aren’t after sex appeal, they are after the best technology has to offer. We all know Apple creates the best products and Consumer Reports just confirmed it by ranking the iPhone 4 as their top pick! So you might want to learn why Apple products are are so popular. It’s all about wanting the best in your life and not being concerned about status symbols.
That’s gotta suck. Way to go crApple.
You can go pee up a rope. Probably the same hypocritical fanboy who calls Microsoft “Windoze” or “Micro$oft”. The double standard simply has no end w/ iSheeple.
Wow, you Android fanboys are worse than I thought. You assume so much about me. First of all, I was simply pointing out an important rule of debate. Name-calling is an automatic lose. I was not debating anything at all, but by automatic name-calling, he most certainly was trying to start something. Secondly, ck0, you are the one who seems to have his panties in a wad. Lastly, I can and often fully admit that Apple makes mistakes. Yet you Android fanboys love to go way out of your way and make blanket statements about how anyone who buys Apple products are blind and “iSheeple” (there goes the ridiculous name-calling again).
are u guys mesmerized? or hypnotized? u guys r supporting a damn rubber band!!! chk out anyother rubber bands available in the market.. they too have a combination of all wat u say!! OMG… Steve has become the pied piper. I am jus amazed how ignorant n foolish ppl become to jus to support a phone which drops calls… personally i think i would not even buy a $10 phone if it drops calls or if they dictate me to hold the phone the way they like!
Small Glitch? Thank god that Apple doesn’t make medical equipment that contains the same level of small glitches. I’d hate to find a defibrillator that would require two right hands to operate.
The iSheep will still buy anything that Apple makes. “the blind leading the blind”
Why are you s hate filled towards the best made products? Did you get hit on the head by a Droid when you were a child?
do you expect them to line up in front of Apple stores and yell: “Apple, Apple, Apple”? a phone is just a phone; buddy! It isn’t your wife, your gf, or your life. As BADWOLF said:”the truth hurts”
This is not a flaw, it is not a problem, I have an iPhone 4 and it has the best reception of any phone I have ever had, I have one bar in my house and all other phones including the droid drop calls in my house as well as the 3GS but the 4 holds on to them all, this is all bs from bloggers that are anti-apple whom are out to get them.

Apple says its a bar display problem…. ooookaaay then
Posted by Erixun in Mac / Apple on July 5, 2010
A response from Apple has clarified the whole situation:
Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength. For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.
To fix this, we are adopting AT&T’s recently recommended formula for calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength. The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area. We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.
We will issue a free software update within a few weeks that incorporates the corrected formula. Since this mistake has been present since the original iPhone, this software update will also be available for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.
Sounds a little suspect….

Apple iPhone 4 reception problems
Posted by Erixun in Mac / Apple on June 29, 2010
Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.
For now, hold the phone with your right hand and use a bluetooth headset.
