I’m sorry for the WP bashing in the title, but I’m as mad as a leper with his willy caught in a zipper. Expecting some sort of semblance of the excellent standard of development that is WordPress 3.X, I downloaded and installed the App for my iPad and heres the horror story.

1. Tabbing through the initial fields of the post causes the App to crash. Granted I am using a Bluetooth keyboard (from Apple mind you) but WP should know any blogger worth his or her salt bangs away on an old fashioned keyboard.
2. Tags do not auto-populate based on your initial keystrokes. Frustrating if you have a lot of tags and don’t want to confuse them with duplicates of minute differences.
3. Selecting a category from the drop down crashes the App.
4. After 20 minutes of banging away writing a comprehensive post on the recent lameness of Apples iTunes App store updating glitches, I tried to set the date of publish and the entire 20 minutes worth of work is gone when returning to the editing screen. WTH?
5. Apparently there are no auto-saves (local or online) and that post is gone. I’m sure I could jailbreak the thing and use a terminal to dig around and maybe recover it, but comeon… there really must be a way to recover work or autosaves.
6. There is no publish button. You must hold your finger down on the “status” input and a drop down presents itself to publish.
7. Code editing is downright useless.
8. Image and VDO embedding is next to impossible.
9. Its missing a browser built-in for those of us who like to get tags from external sites or hunt for supporting links.

All in all, at its current state the App is utterly and completely useless. Do not attempt to even think about using this for any serious blogging. WP must either outsource this to a third party to write a decent App (don’t worry, if its under 5 bucks we’ll happily pay for it) or invest some serious time to get it right. In my opinion it should be pulled from the store in its current state.
